2010 Nissan Micra

29 November 2010

Cute as the proverbial button, the 2010 Nissan Micra is available in three models – an entry-level ST, mid-spec ST-L and range-topping Ti – and is well priced between $12,990 and $18,990.

The Micra has proven to be a pretty popular car for Nissan. The flavour of the Micra lies in its all-round, small car appeal.

It really does tick all the boxes across the board for those in the market for a cheap and reliable run-about – it’s small, but not tiny; it’s appealing to both men and women, it has amazingly good fuel economy and great visibility; and it’s light, easy and fun to drive. Have I left anything out? It seems Nissan hasn’t either.

Style & interior
So the Micra isn’t super-sexy, slick or streamlined, but it’s pleasing for many other reasons. Inside, the dash is clear and concise, the seats are firm and comfortable, the boot’s proportionately large, there’s heaps of head room and the trims and duco are a la mode.

Clever nicks-and-knacks are featured throughout the interior including an internal computer that reminds you of upcoming special dates (think birthdays, anniversaries and hello ladies – service reminders), Bluetooth connectivity as standard, shoe storage compartments and a passenger seat that can be lifted and used as a storage bin of sorts (or to hide a laptop or other valuables when left unattended), just to name a few.

Safety & Eco
ANCAP rating pending, the Micra certainly comes equipped with all the latest safety precautions including front disc brakes, power steering, drive computer (inc temp gauge), 6 airbags, vehicle dynamic control, anti-lock brakes, EBD with brake assist and three-point seatbelts for five seats (front with load limiter and pretensioner).

The Micra five-speed manual sips 5.9l/100km – 6.5l/100km for the four-speed auto. Given this, the Micra scores very well in the eco department – it scored an impressive 5-star Green Vehicle Guide eco rating.
