The scoop
This is Honda’s second generation Accord Euro. It’s a four-seater sedan that has the look of a premium car without the pricetag. The base, manual, entry level model is priced at $31,490.
The drive
The Accord Euro is undeniably a good-looking car. It’s a little on the sporty side, the lines are clean and, although a tad boring, it definitely doesn’t leave you feeling bored.
The engine runs very quietly, but for this perk you’ll have to take it in to be serviced more often than you would most other models.
Also, the electrically-assisted steering doesn’t live up to its assuring-sounding name and is actually a bit imprecise. In spite of this, the handling is very good. And did I mention the drive is super quiet and smooth?
The space is impressive for a sedan. Leg and headroom are decent and, even with the inclusion of a full-size spare wheel, the boot is quite roomy. The trick is, it’s hidden under the floor.
The Accord Euro comes with all the technology a modern driver expects – trip computer, iPod-friendly audio with an excessive 10 speakers and dual-zone climate air conditioning. It does feel luxurious for a well-priced, mid-range sedan.
Safety
Six airbags and stability control are standard features of the Honda Accord Euro. ANCAP is yet to crash-test this generation but the first one got a 5-star safety rating.
Green factor
This one isn’t very fuel efficient, unfortunately. According to the Green Vehicle Guide, the Accord Euro is rated 6/10 with a four star rating.
Describe the car in 3 words
Sleek, affordable, compact.
Best thing about the car
It’s good-looking, well priced, comfortable and really quite pleasant to drive.
Downsides of the car
The good price is counteracted by the short service intervals. If servicing your car is second nature, this shouldn’t be a bother.
Soundtrack for this car
