If you’re anything like me, you loathe parking tickets. Way worse? Having your wheel locked until a fine is paid. Common practice in the UK, fines can range from $200 upwards and thus should be avoided by motorists at all costs.
One such driver, Jessica Davey of Southern England, recently went to great extremes to dodge paying a big fat-fine to local council; so much so that she was willing to wait it out – for 30 hours in fact.
Jess found the front wheel of her Renault Clio clamped shut after a parking cop wrote her a ticket – apparently due to her parking permit being incorrectly displayed. Although clearly visible on the front dash, the permit was not literally stuck to the windscreen.
This apparent crime meant poor Jess copped a whopping fine, to be paid in order for the clamp to be removed; along with having to pay for the car to be towed unless the fine was paid in a timely manner.
So Jess decided she would simply remove the clamp herself after the parking officer left the scene (her boyfriend did just this, however was subsequently arrested after being seen – he was later released with no charges filed).
And so ensued a Mexican-stand off of sorts (UK style) – the parking officer Anthony Brindley stayed to ensure the clamp stayed put and Jess hung around waiting for him to leave.
Jessica, seated in the front seat of her vehicle, was ultimately victorious, eventually removing the clamp herself and avoiding any fines after hanging tough for a tedious 30 hours.
I guess it’s like they say – all good things come to those who wait.
