When we were researching MyCarBudget one of the options we looked at was to offer a simple discount card that covered all types of automotive discounts. It would have worked just like your Presidential and Ambassador Cards. You walk in to the store and present your card and get the discount. A flat 5% or 10% based on what you purchased.
The trouble with these cards is that:
- There are too many of them. I swear I have five from five different companies given to me as a part of some promotion or for simply signing or staying with a particular supplier.
- I have no idea what discount they provide and how much the discount is. The thing is, when I need new tyres I will research on the web or drive to a couple of local suppliers and get pricing. I am not going to look for my discount card, visit their site to find which car tyre companies they have listed and then try and find a local store simply to get 5% off the price.
Therefore, we decided that people have enough discount cards in their lives, what MyCarBudget was about was making your life easier by giving you what FleetPartners already gives to tens of thousands of customers in a budgeting service for managing your car costs and then access to our wholesale pricing. Instead of you negotiating pricing with your tyre provider, we have already done this because we buy thousands of tyres each year.
In addition to that, what we also provide is OneCall. This isn't just a car booking service, what these guys do (and I have sat and listened first hand to this) is screen every work request that comes in to our office from car dealers and service centres, to ensure that the pricing and labour rates are reasonable and that only the required work is being undertaken not excesses that are not necessary. Our OneCall team is made up of all ex mechanics so they not only know the tricks they also know how long it takes to perform a particular repair.
MyCarBudget also offers you a flat 6c per litre discount on your fuel purchases (excluding gas). We don't give you messy vouchers just a fuel card that you can use to pay for your fuel and oil at your nominated fuel retailer, be that Shell, BP or Caltex. No more running out of money.
Finally, all of our customers are provided with free roadside assistance. This is comparable to the basic level of Roadside Assistance offered by the likes of RACV. Compare our Roadside Assistance.
So if you are an employer looking to offer your employees a discount card as an employee reward, then consider that they might just have 4 others floating around the home and it won't get appreciated. Give them something that might just make a real difference to their hip pocket by helping them manage their car costs more effectively
