And here we were thinking a Yeti was a large, ape-like beast said to inhabit the Himalayan region of Nepal. Not so, according to Czech Republic car maker ŠKODA who believes the Yeti to be the latest member of the ŠKODA family.

In reality, the Yeti is a two- and four-wheel drive cross-over SUV, available in diesel and petrol variants with outputs of 77kW and 103kW respectively. With a rugged, sporty persona, the Yeti is set to impress the car buyer who’s after a stylish and robust new car option that’s as comfortable in the city as it is in the wilderness.

Detailed and engineered by ŠKODA Auto at the Design and Technical Centre in Mlada Boleslav, the Yeti is a combination of smooth lines and unmistakable details, created to offer a completely fresh approach to family motoring. According to ŠKODA, Yeti strikes the perfect balance between off-road ruggedness and hatchback practicality – bold yet approachable; safe and solid without being bulky or blokey.

Inside, the Yeti impresses with high-quality materials, intelligent ergonomics and outstanding equipment levels delivering the perfect driving environment. Clever use of coloured trims and different surface textures gives the Yeti a bright, spacious feel – striking the perfect balance between practicality and comfort. An optional stunning electrically operated panoramic sunroof brings additional light, air and feeling of space into the cabin.

Outside, the looks are indicative of the ŠKODA brand with the inclusion of the chrome-framed grille and V-shaped bonnet, while the large, high-mounted headlights give the front end a powerful but friendly face. The higher wheel arches give this baby an elongated appearance, and delivers a high-ride height promising a better-than-average view.

All Yeti models are fitted with ŠKODA’s innovative VarioFlex rear seating system in addition to air conditioning, power steering, seven airbags including dual front, front side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags and central door locking.

Pricing for the Yeti starts at $26,290 for the entry model six-speed manual and finishes at $37,990 for the deluxe.
