Petrol Prices on the Rise

08 August 2011

MyCarBudget is all about helping you create a budget to manage your regular and irregular car expenses. This means that you should never be caught out when those big, nasty bills arrive.

Since launching MyCarBudget in November last year, we have seen a growing number of customers increase their fuel budget because it wasn't meeting their actual expenditure.

We all know petrol prices are up (they are hardly ever down) but by just how much?

Take a look at the chart below that was accessed from the Australian Institute of Petroleum website which shows Melbourne's petrol prices for the past 40 weeks. The charting begins in around November, which is, as I said, about the same time we launched MyCarBudget. Average petrol prices were $1.24 per litre for ULP. The average today is $1.40 per litre for ULP. An increase of about 13%.
