Three years ago, Goodyear launched the Eagle F1 Asymmetric, a tyre that blew away auto industry commentators and consumers. I know it’s hard to imagine how so much fuss could be made over inflated rubber but, if you think a little further, tyres are your link to the road; and nobody likes a weak link – Cornelia taught us that.
Not one to rest on its laurels, this year Goodyear has followed up with the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. Don’t let the name ‘Asymmetric’ fool you – there’s nothing unbalanced about this hunk o’ rubber. If the Asymmetric 2’s predecessor won more awards than the Lord of the Rings trilogy, you can only imagine the accolades the new release will rake in.
The Asymmetric 2 is the first Goodyear tyre to use ActiveBraking Technology, where a larger road contact patch gives increased grip. This helps deliver 3 metres shorter stopping distance on wet roads and up to 2 metres on dry roads. What that means is you’re better prepared for the unexpected. With kids in the car, what could be more important than diverting a potential crash?
With safety covered, Goodyear looks to do its bit for the environment and your hip pocket. The Asymmetric 2 features the tyre-maker’s own FuelSaving Technology – a lightweight design that uses less rubber and has low rolling resistance (it requires less effort to roll along the road, thereby minimising wasted energy). You’ll get a smooth and quiet ride out of this tyre because of the uniform pressure distribution, which also offers better mileage.
Like those wonderfully weird dresses you can wear up to 563 ways, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyre has been designed for a broad range of vehicles, from sporty models to compacts to large sedans. It’s also available in 22 different sizes.
