Hyundai’s Santa Fe is the Cheapest SUV to Own

14 June 2011

Ever bought something that seems cheap yet in the long-run ends up costing the earth? Think racehorses, boats and pets. You get the gist. Yep, sometimes in life, things just seem too good to be true..

But not when it comes to the Hyundai Santa Fe. It’s one of the most competitive SUVs on the market and is the least expensive medium SUV to own, according to an Australian annual report.

The annual report assesses and compares the costs of cars and presents findings in an easy-to-use consumer calculator. The formula takes into account the negotiated vehicle price, depreciation, opportunity interest, registration, comprehensive insurance, roadside assist, maintenance, repairs and fuel.

The Santa Fe SLX R-Series diesel is the least expensive vehicle to run in Australia in the medium SUV class, costing $32.03 dollars per week in fuel, with a total cost of $179.28 per week according to the calculator.

Calculations are for private ownership in NSW and based on an annual distance of 15,000 kilometres travelled over an ownership period of five years.
