Burglars should start thinking about investing in turbo-charged running shoes because what is claimed to be the world’s fastest police was recently unveiled at the Essen Motor Show.
German authorities presented a streamlined Audi A8 GT-R – an already super-slick model -that had 100kg shaved off its weight by replacing the bonnet, front and rear aprons, adjustable rear wing, tailgate, exterior mirrors and door panelling with carbon fibre. What makes it the world’s fastest police car? It can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds allow and has a maximum velocity of 325km/h.
Apparently, there’s an issue in Germany with car enthusiasts unlawfully and dangerously modifying their vehicles, encouraged by dodgy tuning products that have swamped the European markets in recent years.
The R8 GT-R was built as part of Tune it! Safe! – Germany’s public awareness campaign encouraging car buffs to pimps their rides responsibly.
