The 1964 Aston Martin driven by James Bond/Sean Connery in both the Goldfinger and Thunderball films sold for a whopping $4.1 million this month.
The Martin – Aston Martin – is sure to please the new owner, with its bullet-proof shield, smoke screen, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil sprayer and nail spreader. Oh, and fake machine guns to boot. As you do.
The proud new owner is American car collector Harry Yeaggy, who bought it from American radio broadcaster Jerry Lee… who bought it from the Aston factory in 1969 for a mere US$12,000.
“This is a car that I’ve always wanted – after all it is the most famous car in the world,” says Harry.
But even though it's in tip-top driving condition, don’t expect to see it on the open road anytime soon…
“My plan is to display it in my private car museum in Ohio – just as it is,” he says.
Jerry plans to put the money from the sale into his charity, the Jerry Lee Foundation, which helps solve social problems associated with poverty and crime.
James Bond would be proud…
