Australia has achieved another record year in car sales for the 12 month period ending December 31 2010. Sales of new cars and trucks in Australia reached 1.04 million, a jump of 10.5 per cent on 2009. This is only the third time the million mark has been broken. The current records sits at 1,049,982 sales.
Passenger market sales increased by 9.5 per cent to 592,122 in 2010, led by sales of sports utility vehicles that sky-rocketed 25.0 per cent to 235,285.
Where did we spend our money in 2010? Toyota leads the way with 20.7% market share, followed by Holden on 12.8%.
Ford holds 9.2 per cent, followed by Mazda, Hyundai, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Honda, Subaru and Volkswagen.
We even saw an increase in the luxury car market with brands such as Bentley, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce experiencing solid gains.
